Trabalhadores imigrantes e ex-escravos: a formação da classe trabalhadora em Uberabinha-MG (1888-1915)

Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo é discutir a formação da classe trabalhadora durante o período de 1888 a 1915, partindo do exame das experiências de trabalho de ex-escravos e de imigrantes em Uberabinha (Minas Gerais). Para isso, procuro inicialmente identificar e examinar os modos de viver desses dois grupos de trabalhadores, indagando sobre suas estratégias de organização para, em seguida, avaliar até que ponto eles formaram uma percepção comum sobre o mundo em que viviam. Os pontos consderados centrais para essa análise são: o trabalho que cada um desses grupos exercia, a ação do Estado sobre eles e, em alguma medida, a visão que eles tinham sobre si mesmos.
