Abstract

The “Paraná Speaks English” is a SETI (Secretaria da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior) project proposal for the state universities of Paraná. The SETI goal is to improve the international mobility of graduate and postgraduate students, teachers and university staff. The project began in 2014 and it is the SETI program first stage "The Paraná Speaks Foreign Languages". Seven universities participate in the program: Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (UEPG), Universidade Estadual de Londrina, Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná, Universidade Estadual do Paraná, Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná, and Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste do Paraná. This article presents the partial results of this program at the UEPG, which was stablished by an extension course “Paraná Fala Inglês – Curso preparatório intermediário e pós-intermediário TOEFL-iBT”, approved and registered by the Pró-Reitoria Extensão e Assuntos Culturais. The objective is also to discuss the project prospects and its completion in 2016.

Isabel Cristina Vollet Marson, Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa - UEPG

Licenciada em Letras Português-Inglês pela Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (2001), Especialista em Ensino-Aprendizagem de Línguas Estrangeiras (2004) pela mesma universidade e Mestre em Educação pela Universidade Tuiuti do Paraná (2007). Atualmente, é Professora efetiva do Departamento de Estudos da Linguagem (DEEL) na Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (UEPG), onde atua também, como Coordenadora no Núcleo de Assessoria Pedagógica (NAP) e Coordenadora Pedagógica do Projeto “Paraná fala Inglês”. Seus interesses de pesquisa são na área de ensino-aprendizagem de Língua Inglesa, formação de professores, tecnologias de informação e comunicação, internacionalização das universidades, ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem e educação a distância.

Elaine Ferreira do Vale Borges, Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa - UEPG

Bacharel e Licenciada em Letras/UNESP, Mestre em Linguística Aplicada/UNICAMP e Doutora em Educação/USP. Fez estágio doutoral na Universidade de Murcia (Espanha) e residência pós-doutoral na UFMG. Atualmente, é Professora Adjunta do Departamento de Estudos em Linguagem (DEEL) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa (UEPG), onde atua, também, como Coordenadora do Programa "Inglês Sem Fronteiras". Seus interesses de pesquisa são na área de ensino-aprendizagem de línguas estrangeiras, educação e de formação de professores na perspectiva da teoria da complexidade/caos.
