The objective of this article is to present the outreach project “Cátedra Sérgio Vieira de Mello: Núcleo de Apoio a Imigrantes e Refugiados” [Sérgio Vieira de Mello Chair: Immigrant and Refugee Support Center] of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina with the aim of contributing to the debate about university outreach in this historic moment when the ties between teaching, research and outreach are being reconstituted. Using the mixed-method approach and post- and decolonial theories, this paper presents the main results of the practices carried out between 2014 and 2019: more than 30 thousand individual services – provided in partnership with the Migrant Ministry, the Center for Reference and Assistance for Immigrants and the Federal Public Defender’s Office – to people of 62 nationalities, mostly racialized individuals of the Global South. This is a pioneer project that has promoted non-hierarchized encounters with difference and has contributed to draw up the migration profile of the state of Santa Catarina in the context of South-South Migration.References
