Abstract

In the Amazon region, economic activities generate great pressure on natural resources. The use of an endemic, abundant and renewable natural resource such as bamboo is an alternative to logging and supports activities carried out in rural communities. In this context, the extension project "Collaborative construction of infrastructures with bamboo in rural areas", developed within the research group on Architecture and Sustainable Construction. The objective was to strengthen knowledge about the construction of agricultural infrastructures with bamboo. The results were two models of rural infrastructure with bamboo, presented in two construction manuals that will be disseminated in the Amazon region of Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. The execution of the project contributes to the dissemination of knowledge about the sustainable use of bamboo in farm animal production structures.
