Educational technology on the use of elastic stockings in Chronic Venous Insufficiency

Abstract

The objective of this work is to describe the construction of an educational video aimed at the ongoing education of nurses about the use of elastic stockings in the management of Chronic Venous Insufficiency. This is a methodological study carried out between September 2023 and April 2024, following the framework of Fleming, Reynolds and Wallace (2009), which encompasses the pre-production, production, and post-production phases. The research was developed in three stages: 1) literature review and documentary research; 2) instructional video recording; 3) editing the video and adding animations, dubbing and subtitles. As a result, a video was obtained that addressed four aspects, namely the use of the Ankle-Brachial Index to select the compression level, the measurement and prescription of the sock, the demonstration of how to dress and the care to be taken with the ellastic sock. Therefore, this technology provides a dynamic strategy for the ongoing education of nurses, in addition to serving as a support tool for Nursing Consultations.
