LEARNING MATHEMATICS: INTEGRATED ACTIONS BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY AND INSTITUTIONS OF BASIC TEACHING

NEEM Laboratory: Educative visits and Interactive Itinerant Mathematics are extension projects of the program called Nucleus of Studies of Mathematics Teaching – NEEM, of the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB) since 1996. These projects are based on the reception of students and teachers who come to the university and the organization of Itinerant Exhibition Interactive Mathematics (MIIM) that are held at the schools. the university goes to the schools. The projects have the following objectives: to contribute to the demystification of mathematics, disseminate and make available materials developed within the University, encourage the development of mathematics laboratories in schools and contribute to the continued education of teachers. The action strategies emphasize the construction and exploration of educational materials and encouraging the development of interdisciplinary activities and guidance for the organization of mathematics laboratories in schools. In the biennium 2008-2009, of the project – Lab NEEM: educational visits – attended by approximately 2,000 (two thousand) school pupils, teachers and students, being held 55 (fifty five) math activities. Were organized and carried out 9 (nine) Itinerant Interactive Exhibition of Mathematics in 4 (four) municipalities of Santa Catarina (Blumenau, Indaial, Timbó and Rio do Sul), with the active participation of about 5.500 (five thousand and five hundred) students and education professionals. The actions in the two projects have made possible the fruitful interaction between the university and schools and other institutions of education and its members, with the demystification of mathematics as abstract and difficult to learn.
