Urban heat island, Spatial modeling, Coastal citiesAbstract
This study analyzed the urban heat island (UHI) in the Florianópolis conurbation, combining in situ observations and spatial modeling. One-year time series supported multiple linear regression models to estimate the spatial distribution of the UHI. During the study period (July 2018 to June 2019), the annual average intensity was 2.4 °C, with peaks exceeding 7 °C on nights of high stability. Dry and stable conditions intensified the UHI, while rain and wind reduced thermal differences between the city and the rural surroundings. The regression showed a strong relationship between morphological and geographical variables and UHI intensity. Coastal factors and maritime influence modulate the intensity and spatial distribution of the phenomenon.
