Crafting the advance of the methodology of applied research on the relationships between economic changes and territorial dynamics, the aim of this present article, results from compiling systematic readings and tying together theories, concepts and major results. The key issue at hand is the impact of a structural change on the relationship between the territory, herein understood as a spatial form of social behavior, and local development, seen as a process of social change driven by expectations of productive systems and arrangements of small and medium companies, territorially located and generators of employment and income. Taking the interests of the agents involved into account, this relationship expresses the possibility of a strategic collective action able to mobilize institutions and organizations, as well as firms.Downloads
