Socioespacial evolution of the municipality of Itapoá – SC

Abstract

This article presents the results of a research on the socio-spatial transformation process of the municipality of Itapoá-SC. The study focused on the historical, geographic and physical characterization of Itapoá, in order to understand the transformations that occurred from its genesis to the present day. In the collection of the data and in the analysis and interpretation of the same was used as methodology the qualitative bibliographical and field research, through interviews with thirty residents, namely representatives of the history of the municipality. In general terms, the technical information medium helped to identify, in both historical records and oral records, the beginning of the settlement of this territory and related themes, as well as the changes that have occurred over time and how this space is configured today. The research allowed identifying the impacts caused by the port enterprise, consequent transformations and how space has been organized in this context.
