The Mariricu River estuary is located in sector 2 of the Espírito Santo coast, according to Martin et al (1997). The results presented below were obtained after the treatment, analysis and interpretation of the data collected in the field, in transects 1, 2 and 3 of the Mariricu river, with regard to the plant structure, as well as the data treated in the laboratory. The previous choice of points to start the transects was made during the photointerpretation. It can be seen that the mangroves are exuberantly present, especially on the banks of the river and tidal channels. Four mangrove species are present in the estuary: Rhizophora mangle (L.), Laguncularia racemosa (L.) C.F. Gaertn, Avicennia schaueriana (L.) and Avicennia germinans (L.).
