Abstract

Goal: This study aims to analyze the perception of undergraduate students at a federal educational institution regarding the acceptance and use of technology from an academic system, based on the UTAUT model (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology).

Design½Methodology½Approach: The methodology applied in this research constitutes a descriptive research, with a quantitative approach. The descriptive research took place through an investigation and was carried out by applying a questionnaire to undergraduate students at the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) - Campus Ouro Preto. The analysis was performed by modeling structural equations.

Results: The results indicate that the platform is well accepted by IFMG / OP undergraduate students, playing an important role for academic management. It was concluded that in the UTAUT model used in this research, only the performance expectation and the social influence impact the students' behavioral intention in relation to the analyzed technology. In the case of the moderating effects of the variables gender and age, it was also found that they do not influence the relationships between the independent variables and the behavioral intention, differently from what is recommended in the literature.

Originality½Value: The originality is in the evaluation of acceptance of an academic platform, demonstrating that the relationship between student and administration can be improved by granting more autonomy to students, such as: monitoring of enrollment adjustment, document filing and monitoring of requirements.
