Distribution area and fenological aspects of <I>Mandevi ha velutina</I> (Mart.) Woodson (Apocynaceae) in Brazil

Abstract

Mandevilla velutina (Mart.) Woodson, has been apresented special interest by the results in chemicals, pharmacologycal and biotechnologycal studies. Then are necessary know aspects concerned its occurrence in nature, its biomass prodution and fenology, in order to detect the potenciality of its exploration under natural condition or conventional cultivation. Therefore it was solicity information in all brasilian herbarium, executed trevels to observation an colected and cultivated plants in an experimental area. The results obteined indicated that this plant occurrence is on "Cerrado" (MG,GO,SP,PR), "campos Meridionais" (PR, SC, RS) and "Restinga" (RS, SC); with a floration period since September until March concentrated in December (summer); perenial tubera and sazonal branches. Morfological variation where observed between populations of "Cerrado" and "Restinga".
