Vegetation of Pontal da Daniela, Florianópolis, SC, Brazil. II. Mangal phytosociology

Abstract

The three typical mangrove species (Avicennia schaueriana Stapf & Leechman ex Moldenke, Laguncularia racemosa (L.) Gaertner f. e Rhizophora mangle L.) in the mangal of Pontal are distributed in four types of groups: Laguncularia Mangal (dominant), Avicennia Mangal, Rhizophora Mangal (rare), and Mixed Mangal; the structure of each type is described. A profile diagram of each group and its phytosociological and abiotic data are presented. The basal area and density are higher than in other mangal formations in Ilha de Santa Catarina, while the mean diameter (DBH) and plant height are lower.
