Abstract

Cladophoropsis macromeres forms algal turfs in the intertidal zone at Ponta Negra region (State of Rio de Janeiro). In spite of the filament measures agree with its original description, the general thallus morphology presents important differences, suggesting that could be other species. The present study describe the plants from the natural environment (Ponta Negra), discussing the morphological differences with the Caribean ones, and the results obtained from the cultivation.
