Note on the study of epipelic diatoms from Ratones mangrove swamp by trapping method

Abstract

Sediment was collected at low tide on Ratones mangrove swamp, located in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, South Brazil. The living epipelic diatoms are separated from the sediment by trapping method developed by EATON & MOSS, 1966 (modified). There are: Amphota angusta Greg. var. ventricosa (Greg.) Cleve, Amphiprora alata (Ehr.) Kütz., Diploneis gruendleri (A. Schmidt) Cleve, Diploneis smithii (Bréb.) Cleve, Gyrosigma eximium (Twaites) Boyer, Navicula cf lindae Sullivan & Reimer, Nitzschia closterium (Ehr.) Wm. Smith, N. fasciculata (Grun.) Grun., N. granulata Grun., N. obtusa Wm. Smith var. scalpelliformis Grun., N. panduriformis Greg. var. minor. Grun., N. sigma (Kütz.) Wm. Smith var. rigida (Kütz.) Grun.
