Land Regularization and Insurgent Actions in the City of Belém: the case of Estrada Nova
Abstract
This article analyzes the Chão Legal [Legal Ground] program, being executed in the Estrada Nova watershed, identifying the conflicts that have emerged through the recognition of land ownership and security. The study used a bibliographic analysis, a reading of official documents, the accompanying of meetings and interviews with residents in the selected neighborhoods and presents their contestations and organizations. The results indicate the limits and challenges to guaranteeing the permanence of the residents on the legalized land, because it is difficult for the land regularization programs to promote socio-spatial integration.Downloads
