Abstract

By questioning the meaning of the choice of Paraguayan writer Augusto Roa Bastos in turning to film and screenwriting, this article aims to discuss the relationship between cinema and exile from the conception of assembly and its potentiality to exile blocks of images and create ghosts. The assembly, which corresponds to the concept of “poetics of variation” developed by the writer, constitutes itself as a route to memory the counterlife that returns to a home forever lost and becomes imaginary, as a set of invented and exiled images.
