Why, for what a periodical (translation)
Abstract
Tempo. Poder-se-ia vê-la assim: mais que um desafio ao tempo, a revista é um desafío no tempo. A literatura seria essa possibilidade de desafiar o tempo em um lapso maior que o da proximidade, que o do próximo do presente. A revista, pelo contrário, trabalha para o presente, para a difusão do conto ou do poema ou do artigo ou do capítulo de romance. Logo, com sorte, esses textos estarão destinados a circular em livro ou então a ficarem pendentes no espaço cibernético até que alguém os recolha, até que alguém os “baixe” da internet. Ou se perderão para sempre ou se transformarão em referência de nota de rodapé em alguma tese de doutorado, para regozijo de eruditos ou como monótono insumo para a obtenção de um grau ou de um cargo universitário. Isso significa, como cria Borges, que “um periódico se lê para o olvido”, ao passo que “um livro se lê para a memória”? (BORGES, 1979, p.25).
