Abstract

The purpose of this article is to collaborate with the pedagogical reflections about the education of the blind. It proposes a reflection on the theme from the perspective of historic dialectical materialism. It reviews the phases of development of scientific opinions about psychology of the blind. In parallel it analyzes the practice of a Resource Room for attending Blind and Low Vision students from The Florianópolis Municipal School system. It develops the concepts of semiotic mediation, self-regulation, Superior Psychological Processes and social compensation as elements of the constitution of the individual as a social being.
