The present paper is conceived a as contribution to the history of the Brazilian social psychology, through the systematization of some memories and records ofthe trajectory ofthe theory of social representations in Brazil from 1982 to 1997. The first part of the text describes the initial passes of this trajectory (1982 to 1987) and evaluates their significance within the academic context when dealing with the teaching and research of social psychology. The second part presents the Brazilian production in the field of social representations during the next ten yars (1988 to 1997), resulting from an inquiry undertaken by rese- achers of forteen universities distributed over the whole country. The evolution of this production is accompanied year after year, in different fields of knowledge, within five categories - books, chapters of books, articles, communications at events, theses and disserta- tions. There also is presented a brief comparative analysis of its substantive content during the wholen period.Downloads
