The study focusses on three central points. It starts discussing the concept and theory of social representations and as they have been dealed with in the last years, based upon some of the most important literature publishedrecently and showing the acceptation and present usefullriess of the theory
when we approach many social phenomena. As the second point the author discusses the concept of ideology, trying to point out its different accepta- tions and presenting a reading axis so that we may understand the relations and implications of those different acceptations. At last, as the thirdpoint, we see as the concepts of social representations and ideology can relate one with another, wherein they differ and wherein they overlap, depending on the respective accepation.
