The accident scenario relevant to the national electricity sector is worrying and records alarming rates in relation to morbidity and mortality. This situation denotes a relationship with the dangerousness of the tasks. However, consideration is given to the occurrence of unsafe acts and conditions that favor the occurrence of accidents. In addition, psychosocial risks are detected that can also be identified as triggering factors for those events, and which can lead to mental illness among workers. Among these, Burnout syndrome or professional exhaustion syndrome has been observed and is characterized by symptoms of extreme exhaustion, stress and physical exhaustion resulting from exhausting work situations, also those that demand a lot of competitiveness and/or responsibility. In this context, the harmful effects are diverse and may result in temporary or permanent removal from work or death. With this in mind, this study was carried out using as a data source the accident records of the Ipatinga Workers' Health Reference and Care Center (CEREST/Ipatinga) focusing on the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Aço (RMVA), Minas Gerais , Brazil. We sought to identify and analyze the occupational risks to which workers are exposed and propose mitigating measures to reduce harmful consequences. On this premise, possible correlations with environmental factors were established, thus enabling the identification of appropriate strategies aimed at promoting worker health, thus favoring the adoption of good practices applicable to the level of individual and collective protection.
