Abstract

For micro and small companies [MSEs] to remain competitive in an  increasingly globalized world, continuous improvement in all aspects of the organization is essential, which, in turn, can prove to be a challenging task, since this type of company has resource limitations. One way to overcome this challenge and remain competitive is to form networks of companies with similar characteristics. This network conception brings competitive advantages to all the companies involved, as they work together to reach solutions to collective obstacles. This article aims to evaluate the transfer of knowledge within a network of small construction companies. To achieve the proposed objective, a literature review on the subject was carried out and data was collected through a questionnaire in a convenience sample. From the data collected, it was possible to infer that the studied companies realize the value of forming business networks, but are not willing to share the necessary critical and strategic data.
