Abstract

The crisis resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic had a strong impact on all business segments. The impacts suffered by companies, such as a decrease in the number of customers and alteration or suspension of contracts with suppliers, caused different reactions, in which some companies had to close down their activities. 29 micro and small companies from the state of Sergipe were considered, which, due to accessibility, agreed to participate in the survey, with the aim of identifying the impacts generated by Covid-19. Among the areas in which companies operate, the tertiary sector was the most expressive, highlighting the retail (20.7%) and food (37.9%) sectors. Among the participating companies, 69.9% cannot say whether they will be able to recover in the post-crisis scenario, 27.6% closed their establishments to serve the public and more than 50% of the companies participating in the survey considered the impact suffered as from medium to high. As a suggestion for the recovery of companies are the creation of effective credit programs, aimed at MSEs, and greater qualification of managers.
