Abstract

This research evaluates the power consumption of economic family houses, having as a case study a house of the communitarian district of Kuarahy Rese (Ita), Paraguay, with the interest of implementing passive improvements that allow power saving. The methodology applied allows to identify and evaluate the opportunity areas that offer potential power saving and that, at the same time, establish the thermal comfort in houses located in tropical climates. Periodic measurements of the power consumption were made and a detail of the installed electrical equipment, hour of use, frequency, in addition to the engineering data of the equipment was taken into account. According to the collected data experimental measures were implemented to reduce the electrical consumption. The results of the measurements are compared with the obtained ones by means of the simulation through a computer science program (Energy Plus, interphase DesignBuilder). The conclusions show that it is possible to contribute to the development about a constructive and technological proposal to improve comfort, reduce costs and diminish the environmental impact by the alteration of ecosystems in the construction of hydroelectric power plants, air pollution and water resources.
