ANALYSIS OF SITUATION OF THE CLUSTER OF STEVIA IN PARAGUAY. PRESENT, PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES FOR DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

Stevia cluster in Paraguay through Stevia Sectorial Chamber is one of the last clusters formed in REDIEX - Investment and Export Network del Paraguay. It was selected under technical and strategic criteria by the great potential of development on the production chain, with well-targeted international markets and competitive to export. So, to understand their situation now, prospects and challenges, this work was carried out extensive research literature and interviews regarding this cluster and based on information obtained will be assessed the competitiveness of the cluster. The SWOT analysis is used to diagnose the cluster. The conclusion is that the cluster is in the stage of birth with increased concentrations and commercial sources and today has much strength which can ensure their success as being the regional marketing and the ability to raise capital from multinational companies seeking to invest in it.
