Abstract

This paper presents an ergonomics work analysis study on firewood kettle operation. The workload was analyzed in qualitative and quantitative forms, by documents, direct observation, interviews, postural analysis and heart frequency. The results showed that musculoskeletal disorders and work accidents are related to the working time and operator age. Besides, considering the movements performed to realize the activity, the major pain complaints concerns the right side independent to the dominant hand. Heart frequency measurements indicate a medium to high workload according to the physical conditions. Training and workstation changes are firstly suggested to improve work conditions.
