The BIM utilization in the civil construction projects

Abstract

The success of a construction project is the result of management of several and different resources such as: construction materials, workmanship, construction equipment and financial resources that present restrictions and limitations. The project resource and the data base are needed for a good project control. The success of project planning and control depends on the efficiency modeling, using computational tools. The project planning does not involve only the time planning. It is necessary to develop the project budget. The time planning phase contains the building strategy and the project goals. The budget must present the resources quantities and the relative costs. This paper discusses the methods which are used to establish the quantification process during the cycle time of a construction project. It aims to look for the project planning. In this context, the Building Information Modeling - BIM is able to prove the automatic quantification and it can reduce the most usual problems of the budget. Other BIM advantages are its fast way to quantify the activities from designs and its easy view of the information, which are important characteristics of the budget process.
