IMPROVEMENT PROPOSALS FOR THE FOOD BANK BY APPLYING SOFT SYSTEM METHODOLOGY

Abstract

Mar del Plata Food Bank (BdA MdP) is a non-governmental organization that is fundamental in helping to mitigate food shortages in vulnerable sectors of the city and the area. It organizes the rescue, recovery and distribution of food to community institutions, thus also collaborating with the care of the environment by reducing waste. Since its beginnings, the organization has experienced constant growth, especially in recent years, in terms of the amount of food distributed and the number of beneficiary institutions. Faced with this increase in its activities, a lack of professionalism in carrying out its tasks has become evident, aggravated by a very small staff, which also experiences a high turnover. With the application of Soft System Methodology, a participatory methodology that allows structuring the problem, 3 transformations to be carried out are proposed and the activities to complete one of them are presented. The suitability of Soft System Methodology to solve this type of problem is highlighted.
