Micro and small enterprises (MSEs) constitute a crucial component of the Brazilian economy, representing 99% of all businesses and contributing 30% to the national GDP. Among these, a small proportion operates in architecture and engineering services. Despite their significance, MSEs often face challenges in adopting formal management practices, thereby limiting their competitiveness. Project management offers a structured approach to achieving objectives, fostering growth, and promoting innovation. This study assesses the project management practices employed by a Brazilian micro-enterprise in the residential renovation sector, using the process groups defined in the PMBOK Guide as an analytical framework. Data were collected through a questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that although the company adopts some recommended practices, such as project charter development and scope planning, these are applied informally and incompletely. Significant deficiencies were observed in risk management, which contributed to project delays and financial losses. The study underscores the importance of disseminating project management knowledge among MSEs to enhance performance and organizational maturity.
