Abstract
Contribution to the knowledge of avifauna of Araricá city, Rio Grande do Sul State. The following paper lists 103 species of birds that were registered in Araricá city, Rio Grande do Sul state, during the months of December 2005 and January 2006. The composition of the avifauna was compared in three distinct environments: a county site with secondary forest and also with cultivation of Eucalyptus sp with native sub-grove; hillside Ferrabraz composed mainly of secondary forest; and the periurban region of Araricá city consisting of humid regions, antropic fields and isolated woodlots. The authors emphasize the new record of Myiopagis viridicata for the studied region, since it is outside the known geographic distribution limits referred to in the literature. The indicated actions for conservation of the avifauna in Araricá city include the preservation of forest remainders and the maintenance and creation of forest corridors to connect areas of isolated forests.Downloads
