Abstract
The avifauna of the Victório Siquierolli Municipal Park, urban zone of the Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. This work evaluated the avifauna composition in Victório Siquierolli Municipal Park. The bird community of the park (23.7 ha) was studied from August 2003 to August 2004, with three visits monthly (one per area), from sunrise up to four hours after, totaling 156 hours of observation. We walked in the three selected areas, making visual and/or acoustic recordings. A total of 134 species were found (17 orders, 41 families and 115 genera). Three species were endemic of the Cerrado: Cyanocorax cristatellus, Hylocryptus rectirostris and Herpsilochmus longirostris. The majority of the birds (88%) were resident or probably resident. Insectivors (n = 49) and omnivors (n = 42) were predominant groups. We registered 112 species of birds in the forest, and 104 in both Cerradão and Vereda. The areas presented close indexes of similarity (Sorensen), all of wich were above 0.70. The results show that Siquiereolli Park is an important area for the maintenance of the birds in the urban ecosystem.Downloads
