This study aimed to evaluate the influence of factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, use of medicines, contact with chemicals, as well as age and gender on markers of oxidative stress, in healthy subjects. We checked the effect of age on the antioxidant capacity, with decreased values in older individuals, which may be the cause of increased oxidative stress, associated with aging. Regarding the other factors, no differences were found in the values of the marker of lipid peroxidation and the antioxidant capacity.
