Abstract
This article comments on some aspects of participation of dopaminergic mesocorticolimbic system in the rewarding properties of psychostimulant drugs. It also emphasizes the involvement of dopamine D1 and D2 receptors in the reinforcing effect, and their interactions with several types of receptors, which include opioid receptors and glutamate receptors. The level of activation of these systems may be related to the potential abuse of psychostimulants and other addictive substances.Downloads
