This is a preliminary study about the avifauna of the Federal University of Santa Catarina campus, which is localized on Santa Catarina Island, Brazil. Eigthy eight species of birds were identified. The constitute 35 families with 43 species of non-Passeriforms and 45 species of Passeriforms including 15 species of Suboscines and 30 of Oscines. The most representative families are the Tyranndae wihh 14 species, followed by Columbidae, Fringilliadae and Thraupidae, with 5 species each family. Some information on etology, food, vocalization, number of individuals and nidification is given about some species. Moreover, some aspects on migration, habitat, and preservation of the birds in an anthropic environment are discussed.Downloads
