It is a well- know fact that agro toxics exert a synergic or antagonistic effect on the growth of microalgae, contaminating the other forms of life in the food chain. Bioessays were carried out, with two mixed microalgae cultures of the genera Chorella Nitzschia, Navicula, Scenedesmus e Monoraphidium; the herbicide “Roundup” was applied to them in concentrations of 1,5; 3,0; 6, 0 e 12,0 mg/1, in order to determine the maximum agro toxic concentration that they can tolerate. The results showed that in two mixed cultures there was some growth stimulation for the genus Chorella at low concentrations of “Roundup”. The other genera showed from 19 to 94% growth inhibition, compared with standart growth.
