Histological analysis of an implant of artificial ligament (Licofixa-A), built with high tenacity polyester fibers was carried out. This ligament replaced the Anterior Cruciate Ligament from the of a joung male patient wrich word been removed due to the loosing and sliping of the femoral fixation. A connective tissue neoformation was observed within the polyester net, probably originated en the synovial membrane. The connective tissue around the implant was of a dense type, as well as the connective tissue which apparently was separating groups of polyester fibers. Sometimes, giant multinucleate cells were found in some regions around each polyester fiber where cells were predominating over the matrix.Downloads
