The reward systems are the neural substrates of approach behavior to a specific goal. The natural rewards (food), the drugs of abuse and the cerebral reinforcer activate these systems, in which dopaminergic and the opioid substrates take part. The level of activation of these systems may be related to the abuse potential of the drug.Downloads
