Curves of dominance-diversity were made from list of species sampled in eight trails at Morro da Lagoa da Conceição, Ilha de Santa Catarina, SC. Indexes of diversity and similarity from the soil and vegetation were also calculated. The soil showed a higher diversity of species in trails bearing stratified vegetation, rich organic matter and leaf litter. In places with very humid soil and in initial stages of succession, however the diversity diminished. For arboreal ants, the diveristy did not vary with microclimatic, edaphic or vegetational changes. The arboreal ant community seems to be very different from the soil one.Downloads
