This study aims to characterize the populational structure of P. criniticrnis, P. brevidactylus, C. antillensis and C. vittatus by the size determination of gastropod shells often dwelled in the natural environment. Additional information about their biology is also presented. The animals were collected by hand in the shores near São Sebastião (SP). From the analysis carried out for cephalothoracic shield lenght x hermit crab weight; mean cephalothoracic shield lenght x mean gastropod shell wieght for each size class, the following equation y=ax(B) was obtained, x being the hermit crab lenght; y the hermit crab weight or shell weight; a and b are constants.Downloads
