Abstract
Taxonomic studies were carried out on eight species of the Chnoosporaceae, Scytosiphonaceae, Sporochnaceae and Sphacelariaceae families. The specimens were collected in (or from) the midlittoral and infralittoral zones of Bahia state Coast, Brazil. Material was deposited in the Alexandre Leal CostaHerbarium (ALCB) of the Universidade Federal da Bahia. Reference to the original description, basionym, dichotomic keys, morphological description and geographical distribution along the Brazilian coast are presented for each taxon studied.
