Qualitative and quantitative collections of ants were made in the Reserva Florestal da Companhia Vale do Rio Doce in Linhares, ES. The ants were surveyd with sardine baits along a sucessional gradient - forest border, secundary forest and primary forest. We collectd 61 ant species, of the subfamilies Myrmicinae, Ponerinae, Formicinae, Dolichoderinae and Pseudomyrmecinae. The three sites presented high values of diversity and similarity of the ant fauna. The intermediary sucessional stage presented the greatest number of species. We suggest that small disturbances in vegetations structure have a low impact on the diversity of the ground ants.Downloads
