The use of psilocybin-containing mushrooms is increasing in different parts of word. Despite this apparent drug abuse, the behavioral aspects of the extracts of these mushrooms in animals have until now received little scientific attention. In this study, the effect of the crude aqueous extract of Stropharia Cubensis on some behavioral tests in mice was examined. The extract reduced locomotor activity, potentiated barbiturate - induced sleeping- time and inhibited mice . These preliminary results indicate that the extract of S. Cubensis hás a behavioral depressant effect, without evident “hallucinogenic” sings.Downloads
