Cephalic bonés osteology of Pachypops adspersus ( STEINDACHER) (OSTEICHTHYES, SCIAENIDAE)

Abstract

The osteology of the cephalic bones of young and adult fishes of Pachypops adspersus ( Steindachner)  group is analised here, having in view the importance of these structural  components on taxonomic,  phylogenetic and evaluative  interpretation of the TELEOSTEI. The present study includes the neurocranium and splancnocranium. With the obtained results, it is discussed the phylogenetic position the species studied among the PERCOIDEI.
