Abstract

The use of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, among others, it’s something everyday in the contemporary life of many adults and, consequently, children also end up incorporating the use in their routines. Through an integrative review, this work relates the emergence of anxiety disorders to the excessive use of mobile devices in early childhood. In this review, electronic databases were used as US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health (PUBMED), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) and Literatura Latino-Americana em Ciências e Saúde (LILACS) with the mobile devices, anxiety and childhood search strategy, in portuguese, english and spanish, covering the period from 2011 to 2021. Literature on the subject proved to be very scarce, with only 2 articles being found indexed in the databases used that dealt with the central theme. Among the articles analyzed, the idea that early and, especially exacerbated, use in children is related to low cognitive development, less social interaction and mental health problems such as anxiety is confirmed.
