Abstract

Using the technique of case study, the present work aims at evaluating economically and financially the operations of Uberlandia council/MG from 2001 to 2003, comparing the data observed to the premises established by the Rule 101/2000- Fiscal Responsibility Law. To attain its purposes, the evolution of revenues and expenses was verified so that Public Administration may be understood and evaluated under a financial perspective. Based upon the current legislation the debts and staff expenditures included in the budget were analyzed and criticized. The results found indicate that the financial and economic operations of Uberlandia council/MG are in accordance with the Fiscal Responsibility Law.
