The contemporary time and the world-systems studies: a methodological approach

Abstract

This articles emphasizes the relevance of ‘short time duration’ within worldsystem theories. The article presents the notion of contemporary time in accordance with the main concepts of world-system analysis related to time span of historical and political analysis. The theoretical premises developed by Immanuel Wallerstein for explaining the historical character of capitalist world-systems and its crisis reinforce the relevance of ontemporary time studies at the decline phase of the historical capitalist world system.
