This work has as objective the understanding of the discursive practice and the fights of representation undertaken by the leaderships of “União Espírita Mineira”, in the restructuring of the Brazilian Spiritist religious field. This religious institution was established in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in the beginning of the XX century, and at that time, by appropriating the representations of "mineiridade" (the Minas “identity”), the spiritist leaders sought to spread the idea that the state of Minas Gerais was responsible for the unification and harmonization of the Brazilian spiritist field.
