Este volume da Revista Esboços traz um dossiê voltado à história e sua preocupação com desastres, além de uma sessão de artigos livres e de resenhas. Desastres tem despertado cada vez mais a atenção dos estudos de história, principalmente a partir das perspectivas apresentadas pelo campo da história ambiental, em meio ao trato de eventos desastrosos nos mundos da tecnologia, das cidades ou dos espaços rurais.
