The article analyzes the history of the tourist resort Vila Epecuén, Argentina. The village was destroyed by the expansion of the lake after which it was named. The article draws from the environmental history historiography in framing disasters as social-environmental historical processes, and applies concepts of Social Theory of Risk to focus on some elements of this case study.Downloads
